The Manager designs and delivers engagement strategies that increase retention, deepen involvement, and expand membership within priority segments such as students, emerging professionals, international members, and other specialized groups.

Key Responsibilities
Member Engagement Strategy & Growth
  • Design and manage engagement strategies that support membership growth, retention, and long‑term involvement—not transactional recruitment campaigns.
  • Strengthen the member lifecycle experience, including onboarding, early engagement, renewal readiness, and re‑engagement.
  • Identify growth opportunities by expanding participation within key member segments (e.g., students, new professionals, international members, retired members).
  • Support student and pipeline membership initiatives that build long‑term membership value.
Programs, Communities & Experience
  • Lead the development and sustainability of online communities and engagement initiatives for specialized member groups on Higher Logic.
  • Develop and support engagement programs such as mentoring, peer connections, and new‑member/first‑time attendee experiences.
  • Partner on events and programming designed to increase member connection and participation, particularly for new and under‑engaged members.
  • Support engagement aspects of National Corporate Member participation and Recruiter Community interactions (relationship‑focused, not sales‑driven).
Data, Insights & Collaboration
  • Track, analyze, and report on engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Education, and Chapter Relations to ensure consistent and meaningful member engagement touchpoints.
  • Support website content, e‑marketing efforts, and platform updates related to engagement (not direct campaign ownership).
  • Coordinate with the Member Service Center to identify engagement opportunities based on member feedback and behavior trends.
Representation & Relationship Building
  • Represent CAI at conferences, chapter events, and selected industry events to support member connection and growth.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships that reinforce CAI’s value proposition and mission‑driven engagement approach.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • No direct reports.  May oversee project‑based support, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration, association management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in membership engagement, community building, customer experience, or association management.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong relationship‑building and engagement mindset with a focus on long‑term member value.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and translate insights into actionable engagement strategies.
  • Experience with AMS and engagement platforms (e.g., Higher Logic, netFORUM, Real Magnet preferred).
  • Analytical, curious, and comfortable using data to improve member experience and outcomes.
The expected starting salary range for this position depending on experience is $72,000 to $78,000.  This is a hybrid position working in our Falls Church, VA office.
